Step 5: Test the waterproofing before installing tiles

Tiles are a finish, not the primary waterproofing layer. Grout also cannot replace a complete membrane system.

Before the membrane is covered, inspect whether it:

  • Covers the specified floor and wall areas
  • Has no visible pinholes, bubbles, breaks or missed areas
  • Remains continuous at corners and pipe penetrations
  • Connects properly to the floor trap
